specialist, Alan oversees all aspects of Generations United’s communications efforts—from building ties with the media, to planning strategy, to using digital and video media to advance Generations United's initiatives. Alan spent most of his career as a journalist, teacher and professional artist. He’s written for washingtonpost.com, New America Media, Prince George’s Gazette and Capital Community News. As an educator, he’s taught creative writing workshops throughout the DC/Baltimore region including at Duke Ellington School of the Arts and Homewood School. As an artist, his poems and essays appeared in nearly 200 literary journals and anthologies. His work was also featured on public radio. His honors include fellowships from Cave Canem and Voices of Our Nations Arts (VONA) Foundation, two Pushcart Prize nominations as well as three nominations for the Best of the Net selection. Alan received his Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast Creative Writing Program.
